Setting up Rapid PHP for Form data transfer

Post by turbopsy »

Is there a way I set up Rapid PHP on my computer so I can test drive form data to php files without transferring the files and running it to a server website? I want to do everything local and not go back and forth from my computer to the server. I have been programming for many years with Microsoft and coding is not the problem, but setting up the system is. (to work locally). Thanks in advance.

I believe it is much easier done on Wiondows than on remote Unix/Linux server as there you have to set proper permissions and have php configured properly. Locally on Windows it should be easier. In any case, for serious development you need to have PHP and web server (e.g. Apache) installed and configured. For easy tasks the built-in web server if Rapid PHP should work, but if you are very serious, you should get XAMPP installed and this will ensure that you have PHP and Apache and MySQL installed and running properly. Then you should be able to run PHP scripts of whatever complexity.

I recommend the Xampp route too. Very simple to use and install (just extract and run the control panel) and they update it quite frequently.
