FTP connection failure RAPID PHP 2008

Post by frankxkoch »

Rapid PHP 2008
FTP:ERROR. I won't open a connection to 127.0.0.1 (only to 85.181.199.13)

i haven't make any changes to rapid php 2008, and eset smart security 4.
but the error occured suddenly.

Because of the problem i even have changed the mode of esset smart security for the firewall from automatic mode to ineteractive mode and added Rapid PHP 2008 to the list for "allowed connections." This didn't solve my problem.

i tested it with webspace on bplaced.net and ohost.

Filezilla easily can show me the directory on my webspace(s), and let me make changes (delete, upload etc.).

Any ideas?

(This is for Advanced Computer Users only. I take no responsibility if you mess up your system.)
Since you mention Eset, try disabling it completely along with other anti-spyware or anti-virus programs. Go to your Services control panel to do this. (Windows XP > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Eset). Check your MSCONFIG (Start > Run > MSCONFIG > Startup tab) to disable unneeded applications. Then reboot. This should give you a clean system to work from as a baseline. Be sure to turn everything back on when you are done testing.

Try "localhost" instead of 127.0.0.1

Try "localhost" instead of 127.0.0.1

Where to find that?
FTP -> RightClick (the site) -> Edit FTP-Site -> Connection settings
Wheter 127.0.0.1 or localhost can be choosen anywhere in this dialog.

127.0.0.1 is an address of your local computer. localhost is the same. localhost = 127.0.01

You told that you can not connect to 127.0.0.1 which means that you tried to connect to your very own computer but could not do so. Well, I recommended to try localhost instead of entering 127.0.0.1

I am worried though, why would you need to connect to an FTP server that is located on your own computer. Makes no sense.

Not sure why you'd get a message about 127.0.0.1.
As Karlis said is your local machine.

A have ESET Smart Security on my Windows XP machine and not had any problems using the FTP, not that I use it much, might check later when I get home, if I remember!
