problem with RapidPHP and keystroke insertion program

Post by stvwlf »

Hi

I use a "shortcut" software on my PC - I type in a few letters which are the shortcut associated with a block of text. The software then backs out those letters and pastes in the text block. (PhraseExpress). This auto-pasting is done by inserting keystrokes into the keyboard buffer, not with the Windows clipboard.

It include the ability to have various macros in the phrases. One macro positions the cursor to a particular location within the phrase that's just been pasted, after the phrase is pasted. Moving the cursor to that insertion point is not working in RapidPHP 2008 9.5.2.106 The cursor remains at the end of the pasted block. I thought it was a problem with the shortcut software but then I noticed it works fine in a simple text editor. So it must be an interaction between the shortcut software and RapidPHP. I also notice it takes much longer before the pasting occurs in RapidPHP than it does in the simple text editor, where its almost instantaneous.

Not sure if its related, but to let you know, I keep Rapid PHP's extended clipboard monitoring turned off as I use the shortcut program for that purpose.

Not sure if you will be able to help me but thought I'd ask. Are there RapidPHP settings I can tweak concerning this, or is this just the way it works and I have to live with it?
thank you for your help

It seems that the PhraseExpress simply can not handle Rapid PHP. So you may say PhraseExpress is not fully compatible with Rapid PHP or that Rapid PHP is not compatible with PhraseExpress.

It sems that PhraseExpress is using some "tricks" to provide its services (these would usually work in all simple editors and also some advanced based on the technology) and these tricks do not work in Rapid PHP, I am not sure there is much we can do.

Probably the developers of PhraseExpress can check what is wrong and we can see from there.

Hi

OK, thank you Karlis. Perhaps I will follow up with PhraseExpress. In the meantime I switched it to paste from the Windows clipboard rather than by keystroke and that's improved the time it takes to paste.

Its unfortunate because it would be a great combination.
thank you
