close me / close all but me

While I'd love this, I often find myself in a situation where I have 30 or more tabs open, and then get the project completed and can then go back down to say, 5-10 tabs (heaven forbid I get to work on one task at a time). Would it also be possible to evaluate the ability to have something window pop up where you can select a list of windows to close in some checkbox fashion? I know that's slightly different than this, but being able to have a window pop up, select a 'check all', and then unselect say 5 tabs would be much easier to me then having to close all of them individually except the 5, or having to close them all at once and then re-open the 5 (and lose any history associated with the file editing process).

Did you know you can use the middle mouse button to click on a tab and close it instantly? It will even ask if you want to save your changes if you haven't done so.

Ctrl+W = Close the current doc
add a keyboard shortcut, say, ctrl+shift+w to the 'close all' function and you're good to go.

We shall add the option "Close all but current" in next major version.
You can close existing file now, by clicking with middle button of your mouse.

I came to this forum specifically to request a CLOSE icon on the toolbar, then noticed this thread. Unless I am missing something, right now I must go to the FILE menu, all the way down to CLOSE/ CLOSE ALL. That is a pain in the neck, since I find myself opening and closing files/tabs 50 times a day. The opening is easy, but the close seems unnecessarily awkward.

I would like to strongly support the request for a "Close" and "Close All Others" buttons. These are much more productive than the close option from a tab or the "File" menu.

I have just up-graded to Rapid PHP 2010 - this is still a great piece of software.
