Auto Hiding Panes ....

Post by ajmaske »

I search the forum and couldn't find anything like this that was suggested so if I missed it I apologize, but...

It would be nice if WeBuilder had a single toolbar which could dock along any of the 4 sides that contained configurable toolbar buttons (ie... Code Explorer, File Explorer, SQL Explorer, etc...) when one of them is clicked the functional pane appears, we do our thing and then it hides waiting for the next time. So say a file needs to be opened, click on the toolbar button for the File Explorer, the File Explorer pane appears, I select the file to open, the file opens in the editor, then the pane disappears again... Same with the other panes.

I saw something similar to this in Eclipse, it was pretty nice as it allowed the maximum amount of screen real estate for the editor.

You can try the F4 key to hide/show the panes as you want...

that works... but... not quite the same thing. it would be nice if I could just float the mouse over to some spot in the editor and the pane(s) appear; besides, you need your mouse anyway to work in any of the panes so it's all ready in your hand.

Having the auto-hiding toolbar (I guess like the task bar in windows with "auto-hide" enabled) come and go as needed configured with the pane buttons that I use the most would simply using the editor and keep editing region as large as possible...
