Block mode shortage (maybe a bug)

Post by notuo »

Hi.

Using block mode if I have a complete block (I mean a square one) everything works fine but if I have a bunch of lines like:
'daniela',
'gabriel',
'miau',
'paparazzi',
'pilarica en la ventana',
'mirandome',
'tan cerca y tan lejos',
'leyendo',
'amaneciendo',
'soplando un diente de león',
'danza breve',
'comportamiento adaptativo',
'estrategia reproductiva',
'odontoceti',
'platicando con el pato'
the result depends upon the first point of the selecting part or the last one. If I star at 'daniela' in this example and finish in pato' kind of works but some parts are left in the select. Also if I end at 'odontoceti' or' miau'.

I understand that I have to copy an square block but I expected to have the <cr><lf> / <nl> will be replaced and filled with blanks at the end to make the square complete.

Do I explained myself?

Regards

This can be solved by going to Options -> Preferences and un-ticking Constraint cursor to text

Cheers,

Sorry. I prefer to add another instead of edit the last one.

Even the mikeb tip solves what I want, this introduced another issue: If I click past the end of line the cursor stays there. (maybe this is why I clicked on that option time ago and I didn't remember that).

The thing is (my opinion):

If you are in block mode and copy a square to paste in another place, you just for the next click will be in the column you click on and then any past line click should be at the end of the line.

Maybe 2 different options to choose from?

Do I made myself clear?

As this turned out, this topic may be changed to suggestions instead of support.

While you have a valid point, at the present time we do not plan to change this.
