although I totally get why people are interested in it, I feel like it's an expensive hack (system resources wise). I'd rather see the time spent getting the software to remember window layouts on save or perhaps allow you to float windows outside of the WB frame. That would solve the above mentioned issues, add new possibilities and not consume twice the system resources.

Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Good point, I would also like to see those features. Restoring prior Window layouts is important, as is file lists, and other setup options. And since the developers need to prioritize, then yes I agree, restoring layouts should be given a higher priority. However, it's a separate issue from whether to run multiple instances, which can be done at some point, and let the user decide if he/she can afford the resource hit.I'd rather see the time spent getting the software to remember window layouts on save or perhaps allow you to float windows outside of the WB frame.

+1
I need to have multiple instances of the software to be able to purchase.
All of the programmers at my company have dual monitors. The software we currently use UltraEdit allows for multiple instances.
We can not switch to WeBuilder without this feature.

Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Ok, so there is interest.
If we made this, you would of course understand and agree that:
1) there would be no way to determine in which instance the double-clicked explorer files would open
2) if you open same file in multiple editors there would be an increased danger of data loss (even though warning mechanism is already in place)
other problems that would arise - possible loss of latest settings if configuration is done from multiple instances - a lot of settings are saved when program is closed, so closing each instance would overwrite settings saved by previous instance. also changing say project in one editor would not change it in other editors (this is maybe even good).
So as you see this is not so trivial, there are a lot of considerations. But if you are ready to cope, we may consider such feature.

Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Sounds good to me.
What I will use it for is when Working on two Projects at a time in order to compare or merge code. I will have files open for each project in the different instances of WeBuilder.
It seems there will only be one project selected at-a-time for both instances. So you'll have to be careful when opening the files: Be sure to check the full path.
Speaking of which, when 'Open'ing a file, would it be possible to include the full path of the folder in the 'Open' dialog window? Or, is 'Open From' the only way to do that?
BTW: How's the feature coming for organizing Projects into Folders? Here's the post discussing that: http://forums.blumentals.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4229
Thanks.

Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
It would also be convenient to provide an option that allows us to turn off, in Settings, the Multiple Instances feature.

All is noted, but currently not coming. I'll invest some amount of brain-time after we survive the winter and get ready for the next round of planning.
Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Sorry for reactivating, but I have 2 machines that open multiple instances but I do not want it to do so ...
Clicking a associated file in explorer is opening a new instance of WeBuilder 11 (current release, Windows 7 64bit, german). How can I change this behavour?
