Problems in Windows 7 64Bit

Post by Topenga »

Hi,

I just bought the Webuilder 2010 yesterday after a short try period and now Im getting trouble I cant help myself.

It startet this morning with: no webbuilder in in the list of programs. Yesterday evening the computer turned off with problems, so it may be a setting back to older conditions.
Anyway I made a new installation, activated it and startet to work.
Then I wantet to open a css-file from the file-explorer by connecting to the programm ( ...open with) but ITS NOT POSSIBLE. After chosing the webuilder.exe and confirming, its not shown up on the list.
I tried php html ... file, nothing happens. Just for fun I tried the "setmanager.exe" from the same directory, that shown up (surely no bringing me results :-) ).
I have no idea what is the reason for this, but since I work a lot with my file directory, its annoying that files are open with the wordpad. Only from inside Webuilder I can open the files.

Maybe someone has an idea?

Thanks Topenga

I use Webuilder 2010, Windows 7 64bit.

So if you go to the 'Open with' dialogue and browse for WeBuilder, you cannot find it? Or you can find it and select it, but it then doesn't show up in the list after that? Either way it sounds like a problem with Windows itself. If the software didn't appear in the Programs list in the Control Panel after that problematic shutdown, it appears the registry wasn't written back to the hard disk on exit. Reinstalling should have fixed it, but there could be registry permissions issues now. You could try reinstalling WeBuilder, ensuring you right-click on the setup file and run as Administrator (you should also be installing WB from an Administrator account). This should install everything properly. If still playing up, you may have to check the registry permissions by opening regedit and finding the Blumentals entry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Karlis Blumentals on my Windows 7 machine), right-click on the hive and choose 'Permissions' from the menu. Ensure your user name has full access to these reg files. If not, either add the user name and give full permissions or give the existing name full permissions.

If it still doesn't work properly, something else is going on with your Windows installation and it might even need a repair installation to get it back to how it should be.

Just my 2 cents

Dave.

Excellent result. Glad it works because this editor is seriously the best available bar none.
