Special Characters Dialog

Post by RoyReed »

I've edited the entities.ini file to add some characters that I use frequently, but there is one character that doesn't display correctly and I just get a ? instead. The character is ″ (double prime, inches, seconds). This is the line from the .ini file:

Code: Select all

8243=″|Double Prime (inches, seconds)
′ (single prime, feet, minutes) displays correctly.

Also every time I do an upgrade the entities.ini file is overwritten. I keep a backup, but is there any way to prevent this happening?

It would be best for you to send us your modified entities.ini file. It is possible for users to edit the file, but it was not intended for user customization, thus it is restored with each uninstall. If we have omitted some popular entities, we may consider updating the file.

I'll add your request to the list of known problems. We shall see what we can do about this.

Special characters I would like to see added are single and double left and right quotes. Cheers; Bill

I've just upgraded to v2011 (11.0.0.126) and again I've edited the entities.ini file to add characters that I use all the time and I still have a problem with glyphs displaying (or rather not displaying) in the grid view of the Special Characters dialog. The characters all show correctly in table view.
