Webuilder 10.2.(10.2.0.121) File Exporere scroll bar Issue
Webuilder 10.2.(10.2.0.121)
This version still has a File Explorer scroll bar bug/issue.
If you have a large project filling all the explorer window with files could can not scroll down due to the missing / somtimes missing scroll bar ( Yes you can scroll using your mouse wheel).
if you press F4 to close all the windows, then F4 to reopen them the scrool bar sometimes fixes its self. Only to disapear is the change the size of the File Explorer window.
Is this issue being looked at ? Do you need screen shots of whats going on?

I can't make the vertical scrollbar disappear at all, but in trying to make it happen I found another quirk. I am loathe to call it a bug, but is is definitely screwy. When in projects\list view (when selected with the View icon on the top menu), I would expect like Windows explorer to have a set of title bars appear with Name, Date Modified, size etc. but nothing is there. There is also no horizontal scrollbar at the bottom in order to scroll sideways to see these fields, though you can drag the right hand side of the window into the middle to 'reveal' the list fields. Weird, and perhaps part of the bug you are finding on your machine. See the screen grab for what I mean.

Re: Webuilder 10.2.(10.2.0.121) File Exporere scroll bar Issue
I updated WeBuilder on my laptop (running Vista Business) and it has all sorts of issue with the vertical scrollbar in Folders view. If I grab the scrollbar with my mouse button and drag it from, say, top to the bottom of the window, at exactly half way, the bar loses focus and instead the files adjacent to the mouse cursor are grabbed instead and if one is not careful, can end up putting things in the wrong places. I have tried the same thing on my home machine (Windows 7 Ultimate) and it doesn't do that, but it does hang WeBuilder when moved either up from the bottom to about a third of the way up or down from the top to about the same place - it is always around this spot and I thought it might be something like a drive waiting to 'wake' up or a disk trying to be read in the dvd drive because that's what it feels like - WeBuilder hangs for maybe 5 seconds then lets go again and is fine until I scroll that bar again. There is also the issue I have previously mentioned (no horizontal scroll bar) on both machines.
There is definitely something quirky about that whole scrollbar area that has been made worse by the latest build.

I'm having issues as well. If you have a large project say several hundred to thousand files the performance is dreadfully slow. It takes on the order 10-15 seconds to load initially. After that whenever you open a sub-directory it goes at the same pace. VERY slow. Makes the explorers unusable on large products.

Does this happens in tree-view, list-view or combined mode? Have you tried other modes?

Re: Webuilder 10.2.(10.2.0.121) File Exporere scroll bar Issue
I am running 10.2.0.121 and am finding the "file explorer" window to be very awkward.
What would be nice is the typical behavior of an "explorer" window:
1. provide column headings, which toggle sorting on that column
2. make the columns sizable
3. provide a horizontal scroll bar
This screenshot shows the current UI. One of the most annoying things about the current UI is that the files do not appear to be sorted at all!
Although the product is otherwise excellent, the inability to sort makes it a complete hassle. Earlier versions, as I recall, sorted by alpha, which is at least usable. Without any sorting, it is very difficult to find files in a folder with more than a few dozen files.

Hi,
1) Combined View;
2) List View;
3) Tree View;
For the first two views you are able to sort the entries by name, type, size and date. Do do this, right-click on the File Explorer area and then choose the sorting option you need.
There are three options by which you can display entries in File Explorer (you can change this by clicking on the View icon in the toolbar of File Explorer):Although the product is otherwise excellent, the inability to sort makes it a complete hassle.

Re: Webuilder 10.2.(10.2.0.121) File Exporere scroll bar Issue
Thanks very much for the tip -- works just like described.
I almost always use the "Combined View", and apparently I had changed the view to be "sort by date" a few weeks ago, and forgot all about it. I had tried right-clicking on the narrow bar between the "folder pane" and the "file pane", expecting to be presented with sort options, and somehow overlooked doing what you explained: simply right-click in the file pane.
When sorting by date, but not displaying the date, it is not at all clear what is going on. I have returned to alpha sorting.
IMO, it would still be very nice to have the columns previously discussed (where a click on the heading toggles sort direction, and columns widths are adjustable). Sorting by date isn't as useful when you can't see the date!

Re: Webuilder 10.2.(10.2.0.121) File Exporere scroll bar Issue
I've been using Webuilder with Windows XP for some time without encountering any issues with the vertical scroll bar.
But since an upgrade to Windows 7 (64bit) and Webuilder 2010 version 10.2 (Build 10.2.0.121) whenever I start the programme the vertical scroll bar in the file explorer view is missing using the combined view option. I can get it back by switching to list view and then back to combined view. But then the next time I start the programme it's missing again. It's not the end of the world, but it is a bit of a faff having to do this all the time, especially when I've not had this problem before.

I do hope the vanishing scrollbar gets fixed soon. It's really starting to bug me now.

Hi,
Sorry, but I am not sure the next major version will make it better.. We have tried to fix the problem, it seems it is better now, but it's still buggy.
But we are thinking about porting editor development environment to Delphi2010, which has much better support for Windows7.
This most likely will solve the problem with File Explorer's scrollbars, but this will not happen earlier than 2012.

Hi
Thanks Gatis for the update. Whilst I long for a complete fix, anything that at least cuts down the number of times this happens will be a help.
I must admit I'm having a love hate relationship with Windows 7 64bit. I've had a few problems with other programmes I use, and whilst in some way Windows 7 is an improvement on XP, it does also seem to be full of "features" I don't want or really hate, and it's not always easy working out how to turn them off.
Any idea on when the next version of Webuilder is likely to be out?
Regards

Hi, Paul,
We plan to release beta of the next major version after some 2-3 weeks.
Karlis just told me, he is planning to make some improvements on the File Explorer, so things might get better with the update.
