Cursor keeps disappearing in WeBuilder V10.2 (10.2.0.121)
Just recently, my cursor keeps disappearing - I have tried to find something in the "options" tab and elsewhere to no avail. I should mention that when I do go into the options area and return to the WeBuilder code the cursor reappears for a few seconds - then nothing. Very irritating to not be exactly sure where you are going to land. Any ideas?
Thank you.

Hi,
Try closing any open side-bars, including the preview pane (if you have it open).
Maybe there is some problem with some component, which steals the focus away. Once you have identified the problem cause, we will see if a workaround is possible.

I just noticed this, too.
I had been trying to do some javascript programming with XMLHttpRequest, and after coming back from preview, the cursor kept going missing. I wasn't sure if WeBuilder lost it as a result of the failed ajax request or something else. Futzing around with the preview panes seemed to get it back for me, too.

I too am recently encountering the disappearing / invisible cursor even just editing basic HTML in WeBuilder 2010. It just started happening in the past couple months, and there is only one thing I can think of that might be involved - I've upgraded my IE to Internet Explorer 9.
I'm wondering if this might be a compatibility issue between IE9 and WeBuilder 2010 because I've noticed one other new / unusual thing - I used to be able to have my .html file associations set to WeBuilder so that when I clicked on an HTML file locally on my PC it would automatically open/edit in WeBuilder. But now, ever since upgrading to IE9, I can't keep the association. If I do, then everytime I open IE9 it tells me "Internet Explorer is not the default browser" and then if I tell it to be, then the file association is taken away from WeBuilder and reverts to IE9.
I've submitted a ticket regarding the invisible curor issue and hoping to hear something on that. Hopefully the file association issue will be addressed as well, but I haven't submitted a ticket on that one yet.

Re: Cursor keeps disappearing in WeBuilder V10.2 (10.2.0.121)
Possible things to try:
1) Turn off auto refresh - set it to long values, not once every 3 seconds - Does it help?
2) Do not use split screen, but use tabs to switch to and from preview - Does it help?
3) Try to use Mozilla preview instead of IE preview - Does it help?
I do have IE9, but do not have the cursor problem. Any details will be appreciated.

1. Going to try tunring off auto refresh today and see if that makes a differenceKarlis wrote:Possible things to try:

2. I never use split screen, I always use the Preview Tab when I wan to preview
3a. When I try to use Mozilla preview I get this error -
3b. When I try to install the Moz active x plugin directly from the WebBuilder link I get this error -
I've upgraded to WeBuilder 2011 v11.0 (11.0.0.125) in hopes that it would make a difference.
Running on Windows 7 64bit Home Premium / IE9 / FireFox 3.6.18
So based on the above, currently the only thing that I can try that you suggest is item #1 - disable auto refresh. Item #2 does not apply to me since I don't split screen, and item #3 problems are clear in screenshots above.
Thanks for any attempts to help!

The only reason I bumped the thread is because it was sitting here for over 30 days and two other users before me reported the same exact issue, the first one was on May 6th. I bumped the thread on June 21st. I've always received great service and support from Blumentals, but your retort reminds me of what things are like on the Coppermine forums. Hopefully that's not the direction this one is heading.

Sorry - I just saw you posting on the 16th, you said you'd also submitted a ticket, and then a bump 5 days later. I know it can take a couple of days for replies from Karlis and Gatis to appear, so was just letting you know that you would get seen to.
Nothing personal.

Thanks for the reply.
I haven't got too much to add to this thread as of yet because I've been mostly involved in hosting support work and haven't been able to spend much time in WeBuilder, BUT I DO have a little bit of information related to one of the error screenshots that I posted. Not sure if this will be helpful at all, but here goes...
Been running WeBuilder for a long long time now, going back a few versions, on both my Laptop and Desktop.
In light of the situation (and advice, and time constraints) I ended up un-installing WeBuilder (and the older Mozilla ActiveX Control) from both systems and then installing / upgrading to 11.0.0.126 as a first step.
I discovered that the Mozilla ActiveX Control error that I was getting after first installing WeBuilder and then attempting to install the Mozilla ActiveX Control 1.9.2.14 the following error:
"Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" (also screnshotted above)
Only occurs on my Desktop. It installed fine without a hitch on my Laptop.
So after digging around in Google for a bit with the "Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" as search terms it appears that it is a Windows Registry related issue. On Google I discovered several other threads / programs that people have been encountering "Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" with - so it (as you already knew) is NOT a WeBuilder problem. Users posting on the web have encountered the same error while trying to install other programs.
So that was kind of good news - confirming that it has nothing to do with my Blumentals product is assuring.
But now the mystery - since both my Laptop and Desktop are configured very similarly (Windows 7 64bit, Intel Core i procs, same software on both sys's, both machines built and configured around the same time frame), I'm a bit baffled as to why the Mozilla ActiveX Control 1.9.2.14 installs without problem on the laptop, but on the Desktop produces the "Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" error.
So as for that, I'm left guessing as to what the problem could be with my Win 7 registry arguing with the Mozilla ActiveX Control 1.9.2.14 install on one machine but not the other. I keep both systems running very clean, and as identical as possible despite one being a laptop and the other being a desktop. It seems I'm going to need to set aside an entire day to research this and look into possible problems / fixes for the Mozilla ActiveX Control 1.9.2.14 install registry error.
Back to the original topic of "disappearing cursor" - while I have not been able to spend much time in WeBuilder during the past week, what little I've used it after upgrading to 11.0.0.126 has not presented the disappearing cursor problem yet. In the coming week I should have a day where I'll be spending a good amount of time in WeBuilder on both machines, and I'll report back to this thread with the results after steady use as to whether or not upgrading to 11.0.0.126 has officially resolved the issue or not.

Re: Cursor keeps disappearing in WeBuilder V10.2 (10.2.0.121)
Not too sure what the error means, but it should be easy to solve. Possibly.
Using RegShot, it should be easy to identify what registry keys need adding or amending to get the control registered. If I gave you some keys or a .reg file, would you be comfortable trying to implement them?
I've only got a Vista VM to try it on, but it should be the same for Windows 7.

Re: Cursor keeps disappearing in WeBuilder V10.2 (10.2.0.121)
Thanks very much for the offer Chris, but I'll go ahead and handle registry analysis on my own for now. I did manage to get the Moz ActivceX control installed and it appears to be working fine.
In regard to the main topic - disappearing cursor - at this time is seems that after upgrading to 11.0.0.126 the problem may be resolved. Although I haven't been using WeBuilder near as much as usual due to other work duties, I've been using it in small doses for the past several days now and have not encountered the disapparing cursor issue since the upgrade.
Many thanks for the help and advice offered in this thread!
