I've been testing out some Ajax code. When I open an XMLHttpRequest object, I get no response from the Firefox preview in WeBuilder. If I use the IE preview, it works fine. Deeper research showed that Firefox demands stricter compliance with cross-URL requests. It doesn't permit them. I tried a couple of things. First was to move the files I was testing to the root of my local server (WAMP, so they were moved to c:\wamp\www) and that did not work. Then I tried by launching the preview in external Firefox. That worked.
So the question is if there's a problem with what WeBuilder thinks is the source and target URL for an ajax request? Has anyone gotten an ajax request to work with the built-in Firefox preview?

Re: No Ajax Response in Firefox Preview
I might be wrong, but the 'Firefox preview' uses an old Mozilla (ie, not a Blumentals generated) ActiveX control, based on a fairly lite version of Firefox. It doesn't contain half of what the Firefox engine can do, and due to the upgrades in Firefox, its considerably out of date.
The fault therefore isn't in WeBuilder, but the old Mozilla control. Using an external Firefox is by far the best solution, albeit not as far as time is concerned (its annoying keep flipping back and forth...)

Re: No Ajax Response in Firefox Preview
Edit: Looks like I was wrong. The control has recently been updated and is Firefox 3.6. Have you downloaded the latest version as per this post?

Re: No Ajax Response in Firefox Preview
I downloaded and installed this newer library, but during the install, I got the message, "The Mozilla control was unable to detect where your Mozilla layout libraries may be found. You will now be shown a directory picker for you to locate them." As I had absolutely no clue what to tell the installer, I aborted the install and it said it had rolled back the changes. Now every time I try to preview in WeBuilder using the Firefox preview, I get that same message.
Anyone know how to install this thing properly?
Windows 7 64-bit.
