Undoing Transparency

I set the transparency on a gif image, then save the file, then exit Easy GIF.

I come back later and decide I don't want the transparency on the gif image - how do I 'undo' the transparency?

There are several ways.

- You can use fill tool to fill in the transparent areas with color.
- You can use color replace tool (double click to replace all).
- You can copy the transparent image and paste it on a new background.

I tried a couple approaches you recommended and came up with the following results:

Here's the original frame (a jpg laid on top of a blank frame):



Then I make the white background transparent:



Then I follow all three of your suggestions (fill, replace, or copy) with the same result:



It appears each suggestion winds up with a lot of 'fuzz' around the original image.

Perhaps the only way to totally undo a transparency is to start with a new frame and add the original image?

I suspect that the "fuzz" is around the transparent images as well, it's just that you don't see it because the background color is set to white. It happens if background is not monochromatic but there are pixels in various shades of white, thus creating the fuzz. Zoom in and use eraser tool to remove it (for transparent image) or brush tool to paint it black.

The "fuzz" you see results from the lossy compression in the original JPG when it's converted to a GIF.

If I take you're original JPG into Paint Shop Pro, do a normal fill, I get this:

Not so much fuzz but blocks as JPG compression works that way.

Converted to a GIF the blocks turn to fuzz:


Howerver Paint Shop Pro has an option for Tolerance where it will also fill very similar colours.
I set it to 20, and did the fill again, this is the result:

I think the bottom line is a) make sure you want to have a transparent background, and b) if you want to 'undo' the transparency, build a new frame with the original artwork.
