Internal preview in FF >/= 4 mode

Post by FrankC »

Hi,

I know this is a difficult one, but if it would be possible to have WB's preview pane render in FF >/= 4 mode, that would be a very welcome thing. (Now the FF engine used is that of FF 1.7, which has some faulty rendering issues.) Perhaps you could get in touch with the folks at Mozilla, to see if a generic coupling file can be created for FF 4 and up? After all, they wouldn't want IE to be the only browser that is suited for internal preview in an HTML code editor, would they?

[Edit Aug. 22nd: If FF is too difficult, it would also be alright to have a recent version of either Safari, Chrome or Opera as internal preview. As long as we can preview it internally in a standards-compliant browser, next to in IE.]

Well, editors like Kompozer and Nvu (and a few others I can't remember the names of) use the Mozilla engine solely for preview so it can be done and there must be some way of opening dialogue with one of the thousands of Mozilla developers who could help. Perhaps checking out the community would be a good start?

Cheers

With the release by the Mozilla team of a new ActiveX file, incorporating the FF 3.5 engine, I'm withdrawing this item for now. Of course, because of the continuity of WB it would be a good thing if Karl c.s. would ask the Mozilla folks whether the development of those new X files  will continue. And I would like to read the answer here, too. But for the time being I'm satisfied with the 3.5 preview.

For instructions on how to download and install the ActiveX: see http://forums.blumentals.net/viewtopic. ... =15#p18255.
