WeBuilder replicable crash

Post by davenz »

Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone else can crash WeBuilder using the following method. It may be my particular setup, or it could be something that needs fixing. I have submitted a bug report to the team at Blumentals and it would be interesting to see if it affects anyone else.

Create an html file or use an existing one but put a nonsense link in it, or a link to a local page that doesn't exist. Save the file. Preview full screen with IE preview. Click the link and WB will display the usual page not found error. Click the Navigate left arrow icon on the Tab toolbar (refer to screen shot below). On my machine, boom, instant crash. Out of a dozen tries, I get about 10 crashes, which indicates it doesn't do it every time, but more often than not.

Have fun...

Edit: I have tried this after a fresh install of 2011 on my new computer and it does the same thing, also with the Mozilla control. It is either something peculiar to the way I set up my computers (running either Windows 7 Business or 7 Ultimate) or a bug in the software.

Cheers

version 11.0.1.127, Win7 Ultimate - up to date

I consistently get crash notices whenever using preview. The popup dialogue asks to continue or quite the program. If I click continue it keeps popping up until I close the preview. Another issue is that often times my cursor doesn't display when clicking into code but once I start typing the insertion point is correct. Otherwise, version 11 seems slow and laggy compared to version 10. I still have version 10 installed and my use that until some of these bugs are fixed.

Thanks,

John S.

Is the crashing mainly when using the Mozilla preview? Do you use flash objects in your pages? This is known to cause issues.

As for the sluggishness I notice as well; does it help if turning off cursor synch? I notice many times the editor seems to bog down after a few hours open (which doesn't happen that often for me without me triggering a crash somewhere).

Thanks

The crash occurs with IE and Firefox preview. I don't see a cursor sync option so I don't know about that. I only rarely use preview because of the continual crashing which is unfortunate since the new features are quite nice (if they worked properly).

The problem davenz reported is not connected with preview, because "Navigate left" - actually it is "Navigate back" which must be used to navigate back in your code to previous edit region. The crash occurs because the edit window is not visible here. As I said, this will be fixed with next update.

This can be connected with Mozilla ActiveX dll. Please update it here: http://www.blumentals.net/download/mozilla/
Otherwise, version 11 seems slow and laggy compared to version 10
It will be better with next update.
The crash occurs with IE and Firefox preview.
Please contact us using the support form, and we shall investigate this. There are no reasons you should be getting this apart from the ones mentioned above.

Hi All:

[Webuilder 11.0.1.127] I'm having exactly the same probs as simmerin: crashes after clicking the Preview tab moving from the Code editor tab. Happens regardless whether IE or Firefox preview is default. I also get "Mozilla active X control" errors, which I hope to rectify with the fix mentioned earlier in this thread. I have sent a bug report.

Aprt from that, I really like Webuilder, a worthy successor to my dear old HomeSite.
