copy and paste problems

Post by Silver »

When I highlight certain text to replace in WeBuilder 2005 with the left mouse click "Paste" several types of problems may or may not happen:

1. It replaces the whole section and not just the part I highlighted
Example: .nav .navbrdr5 . If I highlight nav and try to replace it with copied text "menu" , WeBuilder changes the highlight to the whole word .navbrdr5 and replaces it with menu

However if I use WeBuilder's edit command paste, it works fine.

2. Second problem, when I highlight whole sections to paste a new section, as soon as I click the left mouse button to paste the new selection, WeBuilder removes the highlighting, and if I continue with the paste command, the program adds the new selection to where the cursor line happened to be.
Example: (although this isn't the specific one, I mentioned above, as that one doesn't always repeat itself, this one does) <div class="menubrdr5">

If you highlight class=" and click the left mouse button to paste, the highlight goes off class=" and re-highlights the menubrdr5.. I realize on this that the program is trying to help me, but there are times when I highlight exactly what I want replaced, it will try to second guess me and changes all highlighted info, and re-highlights a single word.

Again if I use WeBuilders edit command, it works fine.

There have been time's I haven't paid attention to this  and keep right on working. When I go to preview my work, it is incorrect and a mess  . I have to go back and view the whole thing until I find where the problem started.

Although this has been a great learning experience, as I just learned css, xhtml and picking up tidbits of java, it is a bit annoying.

I myself never use menus to Copy and Paste :) I've been using hotkeys ever since they were invented. My fingers have their positions built in :D

Copy: Ctrl+Ins or Ctrl+C
Cut: Shift+Del or Ctrl+X
Paste: Shift+Ins or Ctrl+V
Select All: Ctrl+A

On the other hand, I tried to reproduce what you described, but haven't succeeded :?

Thank you for the Hot key idea gLes.

I never use the hotkey's, I'm so used to using the mouse, I never even thought of using hotkeys. (I posted a snippet copy and paste problem, and your hotkeys work wonderfully!)

Silver, it seems that this is caused by auto spell check. Currently as a workaround, you can disable auto spell check and it will work just fine.
