It would be very nice, when the "convert tabs to spaces" option is deactivated, if tabs where tabs and spaces spaces.
Up till now you can put the cursor inside a tab as if there where spaces inside it.
When clicking halfway on a tab the cursor should either move to the beginning or to the end of the tab, not inside it (because there is no inside in a tab).
The only way not to disturb the code at this point is - before you start typing - to click again on the correct tab position (which you cannot see) or to move the cursor via the arrow buttons to the beginning or end of the tab.

Re: spaces versus tabs
I'll add your suggestion to list. For now you can use Options -> Show Hidden Characters.

Re: spaces versus tabs
Showing hidden characters actually is a good work around. Maybe there's no need for this to be worked on yet?
Life is too short to run a proprietary software.

Re: spaces versus tabs
Hello !
I totally agree with geertemo. Even if showing hidden characters is a good workaround (this option is always activated on my application), this behaviour is a little bit annoying (probably because it is not an expected/standard behaviour).
I can understand this behaviour can be useful is some cases, so why not associating it to the already existing option "Constrain cursor to text", which would be disabled if this option is checked ?
Thanks a lot !
