I have seen this in other editors such as zend or NuSphere. Simply by clicking on line number in the left hand column it toggles the background color of the line. I find it very handy for keeping track of lines of that are of interest to me while I am debugging.
Probably not very difficult to implement since you are already highlight the line in pale yellow on the line that your cursor sits.
