Improve Search Options (Rapid)

Post by Will Fastie »

Search currently allows the following scopes:
  • Current Document
  • All Open Documents
  • Selected Text
Add the following:
  • All Selected Documents
  • Selected Folder
  • All Documents in Project (might be the same as selecting the root folder of the project)
  • Specific File Types (e.g., PHP files, CSS files, etc.) in Project
If I could only get one of these, I'd opt for Selected Folder assuming that the project's root folder could be selected as well as any subfolder. By default, the search of a folder would search all its subfolders.

You are probably looking for Find in Files dialog. It's under menu Search -> Find in Files. It has those options.

Thanks for pointing that out. I find it confusing to have two search mechanisms but that may be the result of having used a search feature (Expression Web) that included everything in one dialog. I'll experiment.

After a month of use, I'm still finding it awkward to deal with two search dialogs. I remain convinced that a single, comprehensive (or "smart") search dialog is better.
