Buying and Upgrading

According to our upgrade policy, customers who bought the old version 6 months prior this release today are eligible for a free upgrade. Also everybody with a valid 3-year subscription is eligible for a free upgrade. For more info, click here.

Other existing customers may upgrade for a special price (and the first 300 customers to use coupon code BEFIRST will get a 10% discount on top of the upgrade price).

This is also good time to cross-upgrade between editions e.g. HTMLPad 2016 -> WeBuilder 2018 and between licences e.g. Personal -> Commercial.

Moving from old versions to 2018

Most of the settings from 2016 should be ported automatically. When you uninstall your old version, make sure you choose to keep your settings during uninstall. One thing to note is that settings will not transfer from portable to normal and from normal to portable version.

To transfer settings between two portable / USB installs, please copy the settings folder from the old version over the settings folder of the new version. This is not well-tested method but generally should work.

I do not know if this is the right location to ask this question (I did not find any other specific folders)...

Why do I always get the same error message when I try formatting PHP code: "The operation could not be performed due to the following error: PHP formatter was unable to format this file."???

I have been aable to format the same PHP script without any problem with both WeBuilder 2014 and WeBuilder 2016 - what needs to be done with WeBuilder 2018 to activate the PHP formatter?

I think you will be better off contacting the support here https://www.webuilderapp.com/support-contact.php. We will need to find out info about your configuration to try to figure out what the problem could be.

To me, I suspect than PHP version might be at fault. Go to menu Options -> Preferences -> PHP Settings and make sure that Path to php.exe is set to PHP version 5.6 or newer. You can simply change it to C:\ProgramData\Blumentals\phpxdebug\php563\php.exe - that's the version that's included with WeBuilder and Rapid PHP 2018.

Aivars, thank you for the suggestion - I had the PHP setting pointing to 'php-cgi.exe' rather than to 'php.exe' - both are version 7.2.4.

Cross upgrading is the same as regular upgrading. You can upgrade not only from earlier versions of WeBuilder but also from lower editions of the editor. Simply go to http://www.webuilderapp.com and press Upgrade.

I purchased a 3-year license for WeBuilder Personal in 2015 and am trying to upgrade.

I followed the directions listed here: https://www.webuilderapp.com/support-answer.php?tid=84

But when I put in the new product title, an error message says that I have "selected an incorrect product, please try again".

I tried both leaving the activation key blank, and using my old activation key.

UPDATE: Nuts. I checked the date and I purchased the 3-year license EXACTLY 1 month and 3 years ago. Just ordered and paid the upgrade price.

I'm using PHP version 5.4.34, and have the path to the php.exe for it set correctly, but get this error with RapidPHP 2018. Formatting worked fine with RapidPHP 2016. I didn't see anything in the release notes saying that RapidPHP 2018 requires the use of php 5.6 or newer! I'm not in a position to upgrade the version of PHP I'm using!

Just a quick observation...when I "check for new updates" it says WeBuilder 2018 is available. ...but I'm using WeBuilder 2018. No note on the version #.
