Hello,
I absoluely *love* WeBuilder 2005 as it has replaced my previous program that I used to use (Hot Dog).
Now I have a question and I haven't been able to find the answer here or in the help files.
I recently completed redoing my HTML pages with SSI's, and now that I have all of my pages with the extension of SHTML, how do I view them within WeBuilder? As it is now, when I do a preview, the SSI's are not visible i.e. navigation, footer, etc. I'd hate to have to upload all the files only to find that something is wrong. My host does provide SSI capability as I've already tested one file, but I'd like to be able to preview them before I upload them all. Is there a way?
One thing I'd like to mention though - I am not a programmer and a lot of what I read here in the way of programming is way over my head, but I am a quick learner. So...what do I need to do?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
DianeD

re: SSI's
Thanks, Karlis,
That would be great to be able to view the SSI's in a future version.
Anyway, it worked! Since I already had the 'test' file completed and found that it worked, I just took the chance and uploaded the files and found that they all worked perfectly. However, I did save all my original files just in case something went haywire.
Nice to know I can always come back here for some help/comments.
One thing I'd like to mention though, I thought that if I checked out the mappings area that it would help, well, to make a long story short, it didn't.
Ha..I ended up making a real mess out of it all with the mapping, and I ended up restoring my computer to a previous date. What a mess I made of it all! Anyway, live and learn. Sidenote: I really have to try and make sense of this 'mappings' stuff....it was able to provide me with some information, but not enough of the 'how to' stuff. Is there any where I can find out about and learn more about how this 'mappings' works?
Thanks again,
DianeD

Thanks for your kind reply.
The mappings could not have messed your computer in any way, it must be something else that was done (possibly as a part of the experimenting). Anyway, good to hear that it is fine now.
We have a tutorial that explains the mappings stuff. Even though this tutorial is about PHP, it fits for SSI as well. You can view it here:

diane, it's actually pretty easy to install an apache server on your computer.
You can download it here: http://httpd.apache.org/
If you want a full development environment, you can install xammp: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html That will set you up with Apache 2, PHP 5, MySQL 4... all via one installer.
You might not need all the extra XAMPP stuff but from what I understand, it's pretty much a one click install. the straight apache setup requires a little ini file setup but it's pretty straight forward.
good luck,
Will
