Cursor moves far right while editing

Post by TomTinsley »

Maybe this has been answered in a previous post. Anytime I edit a line the place I am editing always moves to the far right. I like to move the line to center of what I am working on. But every time I do this the line shifts my edit point to the far right again. Why? Can this behavior be changed?

Seems that this is some kind of a misbehavior introduced in the new editor control used in 2006.

It can not be changed currently, but we will revert to the old (2005 style) behavior in the next update which must be release next week.

Hi Karlis,

This strange jump of the editing point to the far right still happens for me on very long lines.

Create a line of about 300 characters then go to insert a character somewhere along it (making the insert point about middle of the screen horizontally) & the insert position jumps to the far right of the editing area. This happens for me with both Rapid PHP 2006 (7.02) & HTMLPad 2006 (v7.02) both of which I upgraded to & downloaded only a day or so ago. It's not a major problem but it is pretty annoying in practice.

This is highly annoying for me. I uninstalled 2006 and went back to 2005. Karlis, I love the program, it's the best thing out there, but I hope you can correct this issue.

Thanks for your good work!

I'm afraid I can't correct it now, because I do not understand why does this happen. It will take more time, a couple of weeks or months probably.

Ok, it seems that there were no additional problems, when releasing the latest update we simply messed up file versions and thus it fell back to incorrect version.

This will be fixed in the next update.
