Feature Requests / maybe already available

Post by Seth »

I just purchased WeBuilder 2006 to replace HomeSite 5.5 which hasn't been updated in years since Macromedia wants everyone to swith to bloated dreamweaver... anyway .. there are a few things that bug me when using this editor and maybe there is a solution in the options that I haven't found.

1. I commonly don't release the shift key while typing code which inserts ' ' which is driving me nuts. I would prefer the key combination of shift + space to only insert an actual space. Maybe I'm sloppy with my typing, however I type really fast and this is slowing me down. :(

2. key commands for indenting multiple lines of code. In Homesite I used to be able to select CTRL + Shift + <or> to increase / decrease indent. Maybe there is another key command to indent. I see that there are buttons at the top for indenting, however I would prefer to use keyboard commands for faster editing.

Yup, your point #1 used to bug me too! However, its easily fixed.

From the menu, select 'Options' -> 'Keyboard Shortcuts'. Find 'Space' (its just past 50% of the way down) and click 'Assign Shortcut'. Hit backspace, so it says "None" and click OK.

As for indenting, if you highlight a block of code, and press [TAB], it will indent in, and if you press [SHIFT] + [TAB], it will indent back out again - this is a more standard combination across editors.

Awesome! thanks so much. I didn't see the 'keyboard shortcuts' option before. I was able to change both options to work the way I want quickly and easily :D
