full ftp support

Post by erikh »

I want to see full ftp support.. by that I mean to be able to upload images, folders and other stuff besides just the pages. I would also like ot see a download feature implemented, so that you can download files from your ftp server. if this is available already let me know, but I don't think it is.

Def want an sql explorer feature that cna handle databases with user/password on them as well, I'd love to be able to drop down select my database connections as well, basically have this feature like dreamweavers

You can already upload whatever you want, if you add the extension into the project details.

As for downloading, thats the job for a dedicated FTP client. I can't see it worth bloating the product to be an FTP client when there are dozens of FTP clients already.

The whole point is. I don't want to be switching to another application for ftp. I want all in one.

I agree with chris. I'm looking for a new editor since TopStyle development appears to have ground to a halt. Nick has steadfastly refused to include FTP support to avoid bloating the product and I have never missed it. I far prefer to use a dedicated FTP program.

Adding ftp support to an editor has never been a graceful solution in my experience. Instead, you should get WebDrive and just mount the ftp server as a network drive. Then it will behave just like any other file on your computer.

WebDrive costs like $50, but there's an old free version called NetDrive you can find if you look around a bit.

I've been using WebDrive for a couple of years now, and I honestly couldn't live without it.
