Webuilder [7.2.0.68] File Explore/Folder List

Post by jahwz »

  1. Open a folder in the File Explorer (Folder view), then select and open a single file.
  2. Edit and save/close the file
After step 2, the file list in the File Explorer refreshes and the order of the listed files changes completely. I can't find a setting for the sort order being/to be used either. If it were possible to open multiple files at once from the File Explorer, this wouldn't be as much of an issue.

So the questions are:
  • Is this behaviour by design?
  • What exactly is the sort order used for the file list in the File Explorer?
  • Is it possible to change the sort order?
  • Is it possible to display the file date in that list?

Hi,

Just tried your steps, and I don't get this happen for me.
When I open a file, edit, save & close it, nothing changes in the file list, it stays exactly as it was before I opened the file.

But pressing F5 while in the file list seems to do a refresh of the file list, so you may try that.

It always sorts by file name for me, and I can't see a way to change the sort options.

Nope, can't reproduce either. Always seems to be file name order for me.
Any chance of some screenshots?

Sorry, left out one major detail, the files/folders in use are on a mapped network drive. I can't reproduce using local folders either.

Same here, I work on mapped network drives all day, never had this problem.
They are Windows 2000/2003 servers I'm connecting to.

Ok, so it is obviously a local issue with our file server or network. I'll test some more with different network drives and from another system over the weekend and see if I can repeat on a different setup... :?

Just to follow up, this is only repeatable when using a snapserver file server (not sure about the model/ect). Haven't dug any further into the issue since it can't be repeated elsewhere... sorry for the confusion.

I have this same problem and it's quite annoying. I've gotten in the habit of simply going up a directory level then going back into a directory to force the file list to refresh.

Even though it's an issue with network drives, a way to maintain the sorting would be much appreciated.
