WeBuilder - can I sort File Explorer by file extension?

Post by garethjmsaunders »

I really want to be able to sort the files in the File Explorer in WeBuilder 2006 by file extension -- so grouping all html files together, all css together, etc. I mean in both in the Project and Folders views.

I can't seem to do this -- is it possible? And if so, how?

Thanks

Nope, its not possible. A horrible workaround would be to prefix all html files with (for example) htm, css with css, etc, so they are sorted by extension then. Not a very elegant solution!

That's a shame

Ah, thanks -- that's what I thought. That's a real shame, because it would be most helpful to be able to group all like file types together, which is what I do in Windows Explorer all the time when dealing with website files ... I'm off to request this then on the other forum.

Thanks

I will find out what can be done about this, I am sure there must be a solution.

What a star

As ever, what a star you are. I'd really appreciate this.

I've been uploading a lot of files this week, and with two monitors I've noticed how much I'd appreciate having the same way to organize files in WS_FTP Pro and WeBuilder -- consistency would make things a little easier.

Thanks again.

Thanks, Gareth!

I hope that we den do this in the next bigger release. At least I have put this in our schedule under "research how to add this feature" section.
