Open a project problems

Post by alimart »

Hi there,

As I am sure many people using WeBuilder have done before me - I have converted across from Dreamweaver as I spent so much time in the coding section.

Anyway, I have been using WB for a couple of months now - very happily. Just one thing I can't seem to find (if it even exists). If I set up a project (with local directory and FTP settings OK) - I can save and publish easily.

Is there any way to be able to have a File->Open Current Project so that I have all the Project files ready to be opened?

I only seem to be able to open from file or open from FTP. It still means I have to spend time negotiating through directories, etc.

Appreciate any help.

A.

The project window should in fact contain two windows - a treeview at the top (showing directories) and a file pane at the bottom. If you're just seeing the file pane (or just the treeview) the move the mouse until you see the North-South cursor:

You can then drag this so you get two panes

If you right click on a directory in the treeview, you should get a popup menu. Simply select 'Open' (or Explore) to open a File Explorer window at that directory.

I've never tried it with files opened via ftp but you might try Opening all the files you want for a particular project and then choosing Tools>Save a List of Files. You can later go to Tools>Open a List of Files to bring them all back up at once.

There is currently no feature that opens all project files, imagine if there are 1000 files... what would happen.

Project explorer allows easily open any one of files and see the full project file list.

If you want to use bulk file opening, you may want to try "Load a list of files" command under tools, of course you would have to define the list of files before.
