preview pane click to code?

Post by erikh »

I'd like to see something like what Dreamweaver has, in that you can split screen between code and design, and when you click on an element in design mode it automatically jumps to the relevant code? Would that be a possibility? Its the one thing I feel is missing (well, that and Coldfusion support). Any chance? I'm posting this as a pole, I'd like to also hear why/why not. Thanks guys! I just want webuilder to be THE BEST. Kudos to Karlis and the rest! Hoo-Yah!

I might be one of the few 'no thanks' but finding the code isn't that hard and Firebug for Firefox pretty much does this visual click to code jump. I still wonder if Karlis might be able to harness some of the power if Joe open sources Firebug.

I'd prefer to have a shortcut to get into the quick search dialog box!

I would very much like to see this feature in incorporated into WeBuilder. I often have to unscramble the code FrontPage, Dreamweaver etc creates.

Being able to click on an area of the page in the preview window and see it highlighted in the code view would save me a lot of time wading through extraneous code.

I do agree though, Firebug is good but having this functionality as part of WeBuilder would be better.

for me there is at least 20 features that i'd rather have than that. it's moving too close to WYSIWYG editing for my taste. maybe that's a slippery slope but i know that dream weaver is a resource hog and i'd like to see these products stay as light and quick as they are right now. maybe this would be a good feature of webuilder but the others should stay without...

This is open, I would like to implement it, but as for now since we use IE ActiveX, I have no idea how to do this... I have spend hours and no results, will try again some time with a fresh head.

I voted no thanks...

My CSS is external to my XHTML, so it might be hard for WeBuilder to make a meaningful jump to my code. I'd rather have Karlis and team devote efforts elsewhere...and keep WeBuilder lean and crisp.
