Webuilder 2006 "install to go" ??

Post by sbendel »

Dear all,

one question, please.

I am work on different PC's (my Tower and my Laptop") normaly. May be I work on travel on a other PC in the hotel. I would like, in order to save time, work on the way on projects further.

Is it possible to install the Webuilder as "to go"? For example on a USB Stick.

Thank you very much

Good morning,

This is one feature Karlis is trying to put into the new 2007 version:

Currently I am testing this. We have developped a special scheme that allows to move the program around on an USB stick. It will decrease the load time by 0.7 - 1 second, but you will be able to move along with all your settings.

We plan to present this in the beta version already.

Do you mean *increase* the load time? (ie, make it more...)

As an alternative (albeit a bad one!) you could install Microsoft Virtual PC (which is now free). This gives you a development PC you can move anywhere.

I mean it will take 0.7 - 1 second longer to load because a) sticks are slower than HDD 2) it must load settings from file to registry before starting up. The same when you close - program closes and then pushes settings stored in registry to a file that is on the USB stick.

Thats what I thought, but you originally put "decrease the load time", which means, make it quicker.
Anyway - whats a second between friends! ;)

Just a clarification... Extra load time will be required only for USB roaming installs. When installed normally, the new version will load as fast as always.
