Ability to add another *internal* browser

Post by albo »

WeBuilder now allows preview in Firefox or IE without creating an external window. This is handy: allows split-screen diddling of code (either xhtml or css) to see effects quickly and easily.

It surely would be helpful to add another browser to the list (notably, Opera; but perhaps, as a general rule...others?)

This is limited by the ability to use the 'engine' within other applications. Both IE and Firefox allow their engines to be easily used and integrated. I don't know whether Opera, etc has this ability.

Is there a manner in which I might test it?

How might I try with, say, Opera, or any other browser (like, say, W3C Amaya) to preview a file using the browser preview tab?

As said above, unfortunately, you can't. If a browser has a method of accessing its engine (eg, Firefox has some DLLs you can download) these will still need wiring up within WeBuilder so it can use these DLLs. At the moment, only IE and Firefox has this ability.
