I'm used to 1st Page 2000 and am needing to update..NOT liking what I see with the commercial version am shopping around.
These products appear to have all that I'm used to and more in terms of layout design, features, use, etc.. I've put some questions to the tech support and am waiting but one was the comparison of the two mentioned packages. WebBuilder says it has all of the features of all the programs, and I'm assuming the full CSS Development software as well. Yet I don't see much conversation about it vs the HtmlPad in the forum. Any reasons? I do use ASP a lot but not PHP so it appears it has more to offer there.
Other questions I'm waiting on are:
What is the max file size it will work with ( I have several in the 4MB+ range) Yea I know HUH??? but I do.
Will it search and replace multiple word text strings over large files or multiple files.
Is it Vista Compatible.
Any comments will be appreciated.

Please try to follow these guidelines. This will help to receive faster and more accurate response.
- Check the Support section of the corresponding product first. Chances are you will find your answer there;
- Do not create new topics for already reported problems. Add your comments to the existing topics instead;
- Create separate topic for each problem request. Do NOT post a number of non-related problem reports in a single topic;
- Give your topic a meaningful title. Titles such as "A question," "Bug report" and "Help!" provide others no clue what your message is about;
- Include the version number of the software you are using;
- This is not an official customer support helpdesk. If you need a prompt and official response, please contact our support team directly instead. It may take a while until you receive a reply in the forum;
Hope I have answered all your questions already in support.

FYI
I tried it doing a multiple word search and replace of about 1700 "records" in a 4.5MB file. It worked find, just took quite awhile and there was no indication that it was doing anything. I keep postings in this file and update them as changes are made serveral times a month the ftp them to the DB. It would be nice to see the activity as it goes through the file so one can view action and progress. It's about twice the time to complete as another program (HTML-Kit) but still accurate.
I still am waiting to find out if it (I admit to a lack of time to investigate and or try) will do multiple word search and replace across a large number of files. Example would be a all the pages of a web site that have the occurance I would like to change.
Thanks for the input. The s/w looks to be very good so far.

It handles find/replace across mulitple files in any folder you tell it to search in. I'm not sure about 'mulitple words'. I can replace a sentence with a sentence but it can run two active word replaces at once.
so, you can replace 'my big cat' with 'my foo bar' but you can't replace all independent occurrences of 'big' and 'cat' with 'foo' and 'bar' at once. that would take two passes.
Why not use a database for such a large file? Totally irrelevant, I'm just being nosy.

Thanks for the reply. I do use a db for my own online applications. These files are all built to standards for other db's and have a large number of listings in the providers exact format. I built the file with a html program, and have been using html-kit for doing the search and replace which is still an option. This program seems to be working as well just slower without any visible evidence of it's "doing something" after you hit enter.
These listings each have a certain part that changes every two weeks or so related to dates and or word combos so I just use search/replace for the entire file, then ftp it to the listing server for inclusion in the db. Works great. Took a long time to build the files but now it's simple.
This program seems to be very good so far. It is very similar in appearance and use to 1st Page 2000 (the free version) that I have been using for a long time. It's so outdated now and having problems that tech support has never been there for that I have to find a new solution. I'm not up to paying the price for the dreamweavers of the world, and as good as html-kit is (and free to boot) it is way to complicated for me to get a grasp on (I don't have time for that big a learning curve so have just used it up to now for the large file need).
Thanks again for the reply.
