Can't paste into Toolbar Search

Post by syrupcore »

I'm not sure when it started but I haven't been able to paste into the toolbar search form for a while now. Is anyone else having this problem?

I agree! :)

When I paste into that box, it just pastes into the editor at the position my caret was last located.

The bizarre thing I'm realizing now... When I click or shortcut into the find box, the caret itself moves to the find box. If I paste (ctrl+v or edit>paste) at that point, it the text goes instead into the editor but the caret is still in the find box. I can type and it will display in the find box. hit paste again, and it comes up in the editor again, type some more and it displays in the search box. ??? If some one can recommend a little screen capture program, I can provide a sample.

an extra bit of oddness - cut and copy both work just fine in the find box.

Have you reconfigured something before the problem started?

nothing that I'm aware of. It started a few months ago - I was still on 7. Now I've upgraded to 8 and it still wont work. It works fine on my desktop. something screwy is going on with my laptop.

I just seem to love breaking software.

Its not going to show it exactly, but Wink is great for screenshows.

Drop me a mail if you want me to host the .html and .swf file it produces.

I wonder if I hit on something bizarre here. I have WB9 installed on a new laptop and I have the same problem. I still have no problem doing it on my work desktop.

Would some one else who uses a laptop give it a try and let me know if it works for you? I know, I know, this makes no sense at all but damn, two laptops now has got me wondering.

Thanks,
Will

Could CTRL-V be assigned somewhere else on the laptops?

I've a laptop (XP SP3, WB 9.1.98) and it works fine... so long as I press CTRL+V. Edit -> Paste puts the text in the editor (which is what I'd kinda expect).

<weeping>why o why o why???</weeping>

Thanks for trying it chris. must be something in one of my config files I moved over. I should try a fresh install and then add my files one at a time. yeah, like I have that kind of time. :)

Zip up your config files and email 'em over if you want. I can have a fiddle on my virtual box I've got here. :)
