Cant change the case of selected characters

I can't change the case of selected characters when selected in I use Block Mode. It's truncating some of the characters.

turns into this when in block mode and the first three characters of each li are selected and I go to edit>change case>uppercase:

Case-switch tools are currently not supported in block mode.
