Rapid PHP FTP Error: Invalid address specified

Post by jonu92 »

I'm using the evaluation version of Rapid PHP (8.3.1.81), but have a problem with FTP upload: when I try to connect to my host in either File Explorer or Browse FTP I get a box that says 'FTP Error: Invalid address specified'. I'm using the same connection details as other similar applications and they have worked without problem. I have also tried connecting other people's hosts but I get the same error message.
The connection details I have are:
Host: ftp.xxxxx.org
Port: 21
Username: u1125757
Password: xxxxxxxx
Initial dir: blank

I have tried in passive mode, but gives me the same problem. I have a feeling it is due to the format of the connection details I have used, rather than a connection problem. Can anyone help please? Thanks a lot.

Rapid PHP FTP Error: Invalid address specified

I have since noticed that trying to connect to a domain that does not exist produces a different error message, indicating that Rapid PHP is at least finding my site but is perhaps not able to communicate with it.
Can the authors at least let me know what ftp errors give rise to the 'Invalid Address Specified' message?

I am afraid I won't be able to assist you much here. I have searched the code base for the message you mentioned, but could not find anything (probably because it has been changed in version 2008).

You may want to wait till the end of April when the new version 2008 will be out. It has completely rewritten FTP engine, and things should get better.

Thanks for checking. I switched to Webuilder and FTP works fine from there so I will use that instead.
Incidentally, I found that Preview worked only intermittently in Rapid PHP, whether using an internal or external server, but again Webuilder is fine.
