RapidPHP - Lost code library - again.

Post by andrispp »

I lost all my code library. What could go wrong ?

I didn't do anything special. I didn't reinstalled rapidphp. I don't remember any crash recently either. I just opened my code library and it was empty. Fortunately, it wasn't very large. Just some snippets. My large library lost some time ago when updating program.

Now my library.xml contains only this:
<xml><Folder></Folder>
It is very possible that I did something wrong by myself, but I think program (RapidPHP) should have something that protects those user files. Storing files in two different places (sort of backup) or something.

It's just I'm tired of losing data.

I'm using Rapid PHP 2006 ( 7.2.0.68 ).

PS. Ofcourse I know I can backup data by myself, but you know the saying :).

If you want a program that backs this file up automatically, then I've such a program.

As to why you're losing your settings, I don't know. I use WeBuilder nearly every day for small tasks, so always opening it, closing it, etc. Have never lost the file once.

Have you run a disk check on your system?
How to: Running a chkdsk

Is your system generally healthy - loads of disk space, temporary directory empty?

sorry andrispp! That's the worst feeling. I don't think it's a Blumentals problem either. I use webuilder on both my home and work machines and have changed machines a number of times since I started using it (true sign of a nerd) and never encountered that.

Want my snippets.xml? I dunno how useful it would be but it's something.

We have had another customer that reported this but it is not reproducible. I can suggest you to back-up your settings time after time, and there is even a special "Export Settings" feature in the Options menu.

If we receive more reports, I will consider implementing auto-backup security feature for the library. Though technically there is zero possibility of any loss.
