What is CTRL+Y doing?

Post by Ryan Williams »

In most applications, ctrl+y is used as the 'Redo' shortcut. However, in WeBuilder it seems to start wiping out my code if I hold it down.

Even worse, if I change the keyboard shortcut options to make ctrl+y redo, it still does the code wipe-out thing once it's redone as far as it can go. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

looks like it's 'delelte current line', a few cool feature I didn't know about! ;)

Webuilder uses the newer standard of ctrl+shift+z for redo. I dunno about your keyboard mapping problem, that seems weird. there may be a few shortcuts 'hardwired' into the program. you might also see if you can find the 'delete line' in keyboard short cuts and disassociate it. that's just a guess.

Ctrl+y is an undocumented feature of the editor. It is undocumented because it can change in the future and indeed there is a hard-wiring tech issue as well.

Shortcut used for redo is the one proposed by Microsoft to be used in desktop applications, we have not selected it randomly.
