Trouble with FTP

Post by Bob_J »

I just installed the trial version of WeBuilder. The very first thing I did was input FTP info for one of my sites. When I try to connect, it's not connecting, and when I go to edit the info for the site, I see that it has appended /var/www/ to the beginning of the initial directory that I have indicated. Why?

I just want to be able to connect to the site through FTP and work on the files that are there on the server (i.e. make changes and then save directly to the server). Is that possible with this software? It's possible with Homesite, but I'm looking for something better.

Is your FTP server RCF standard compliant? Try other FTP server, do you get the same results?

I have now tried 5 different FTP servers (on five different server hosts). None of them work. This is retarded. If your FTP feature doesn't work with standard server set up, then it's pointless.

ok first.
the fact that he responded and is trying to help you should say volumes for his commitment to the quality of this software.

second
i think you should watch your tone. if you're looking for a step up from homesite (i dare say that notepad might be a step up), talk to the dev and see if it's a bug with the program, your system, or the servers you're using (which you started to do before you descended into irrationality)

karlis is helping you and you insult his program....?

I must have 15-20 different FTP servers setup on my work box. They all work just fine.

Consider describing your problem in more detail.

Whatever happens, customer is the king :) also it could be that Bob_J is still just a kid or maybe he had a very bad day so let's not be too harsh.

It looks like the problem is caused not by the FTP server, but either in proxy or the internet connection itself. You should try passive mode and let us know about the results.

I am ready to bet if I tried to connect to your FTP, it would work just fine.
