Refresh Preview

Post by BillAnton »

Does Refresh Preview do what the help file indicates?
Refresh Preview reloads internal preview. This is useful when the file has changed after the preview was generated.
I don't see the changes I have made in an external CSS stylesheet appear when using the Refresh Preview on an HTML page.

Using the Preview tab does work but neither appear to have a shortcut key requiring chaging from the keyboard back to the mouse to review the changes made, and I need to do that a lot to figure out what looks acceptable!

The preview should kick off automatically every 3 seconds (by default). This is in options -> preferences -> Preview
I've also found adjusting the CSS and clicking to the Preview tab kicks off a refresh too, so never any need to click the Refresh button. In fact, due to the poor way it handles preview files, clicking 'Save' in the preview tab and then clicking the preview refresh button actually clears the display - you have to click back to the code and then back to the preview tab. This is a known issue with the preview files. (At least in the earlier versions of WeBuilder - you don't state what version you're using).

Sorry, I am using HTMLPad 2007.

Are you saying it is known that the Refresh button on the top right does not function, and that the only way to update the HTML file screen is to use the preview tab on the bottom of the HTML window by switching from preview to code to preview?

It works if you don't click 'Save' regularly. It should also work 'automatically' every x seconds, so there is no need to click the button. Also, by switching from tab to tab, this also regenerates the preview.

Sorry - I didn't mean to suggest that the button 'does not function' - just confirming that it has issues with the way the temporary prev~1.htm file system works.

I wasn't clear what you meant by "I don't see the changes..." so just wanted to clarify any possible issues you may have had.
