file explorer improvements

Hi,

the internal file explorer of webuilder imo lacks fundamental features: I want to be able to sort the elemets (up and down ordered) by name, type, filesize, date etc.
Please improve this in the next version.

Hi drjee,

It is possible to sort by Name, Type, Size and Date, both up & down.

Right-click in a blank area of the file list, a menu will appear.

New file...
-------
Sort by Name
Sort by Type
Sort by Size
Sort by Date

At first it just seems this will only sort A-Z, but click the same option a second time and the sorting is reversed.

thanks, you are right, it's there. However, wouldn't it be better to have the standard win explorer elements and context menu. this way one would also have tortoise svn etc at hand.

Context menu based sorting is great, yet I agree with drjee; I would like to see the standard Name, Date, Filetype/Ext, Size, etc. columns at the top of the list. I am constantly wanting to sort by last modified and want to see the timestamp info. Adding these columns to the display shouldn't be much work - I woudn't think. Being able to sort by clicking the column title is quick and also standard behavior/convention.

"f6" will open the currently active file's containing folder in windows explorer.

Sorting does not work in Tree view Opening Explorer via F6 is a nice tip but still another step/open window.

I too found this limited when moving to WeBuilder from other editors. While it would be nice to just mimic Windows Explorer behaviour in this window, there is a lot more functionality within the current view modes than Explorer would have. On balance, and after using it for a while, I prefer things the way they are now.
