EditPadPro vs HTMLPad

Post by webdev09 »

The FTP actually does keep alive. It sends a random request to the FTP server every 20 - 50 seconds.[quote="webdev09"]I have used both EditPad and HTMLPad... I like editpads ability to see the whole ftp filesystem at once... highlight 50 files and click open and boom it starts opening all of them at once. htmlpad you have to drill down and up into folders and you can only see that folders contents at once.

Mainly the biggest thing that sucks royally about htmlpad though is its ftp bugs... after about 30 minutes of leaving it inactive on a vista machine, the ftp process has died and needs to restart the WHOLE program.

Once in awhile Ill get lucky and it just says the connection closed gracefully and I need to reconnect... this is nasty.. And good FTP program that costs over $5 will have a feature in there to constantly refresh and get a new directory listing say every minute so it doesnt close my connection.

Please fix the FTP bugs...ASAP

Actually HTMLPad does send random FTP command to the FTP server at random intervals 20 - 50 seconds. I do not understand why it is unable to keep alive connection with some of the FTP servers, this same thing applies to the disconnect. It simply works with all 10 or so FTP servers that we have tested it with. So we are still trying to figure this out.
