v9.4.0.102 Bugs on Vista x64 [Fixed]

Post by cabriolas »

Hi:

I update from v.9.2.0.99 to v9.4.0.102 and few things stop working:
  • CSE HTML Validator stop working. I try to fix it reintalling both programs, even deleting install dirs and registry entrys, booting windows (typical tests) but coudn't make it work.
  • Unable to open the file browser from any [folder icon].
  • Unable to start built-in internal server (try different ports..just in case was overlapped)
So I reinstalled older version and works like a charm again.

My system is vista x64 (enough memory and Mhz)

Regards.

PS: I love this weBuilder thing. Keep going!!!

You may want to try 9.3 (download location is the same but it is webuild93 not webuild9 in the url).

Hi Karlis:

Thank you for such a quick reply

I did what you say, install 9.3.0.101 and seems to work fine (haven't try other reported bugs on this ver. but It recognizes CSE HTMLE Validator, internal web server go fine and I can browse folders...)

CSE I am using is v.9.0 in case it helps.

Thanks

I just installed the latest version (I had 9.3.0.101) and can confirm the first two problems. I don't have the internal server configured.

Hallo,
my problems with the new Version are similary.

After the update to Version 9.4.0.102 under vista 64 i can't "open" or "save", "save as" a file.
If i close webuilder he ask me to save unsaved files, but nothing happens, the necessery Dialog don't open, so i can't save a new file or open a old file.

Only open a file from the file explorer goes...

Maybe I should start a new thread but since the gist of this is v9.4.102...

My problem is that PHP and in particular PHP with JavaScript will go for a dozen "compiles" (previews) and then stop showing output. I thought I detected this occasionally with my previous version but it seems fairly reliable occurrence with this latest version.

With PHP alone, the screen is just blank. I load the same script in Firefox or close Rapid PHP and reload and preview again and get normal output.

With JavaScript, PHP will work but the Google Map I'm displaying in JavaScript disappears. Again, showing the same script in Firefox or closing RPHP and reloading gives me good output again.

Apologies if this should be a new thread but I wondered if these were related.

Same problem here, using Vista 64: cannot save a file. Take any code, make a new file, and click Ctrl+S (or even through the dialog menus) and no dialog window comes up. Can't do a "Save As" either. Had to downgrade to a previous version to work.

All of these problems have the same cause a bug in the latest version of one of the third party libraries we use. Although it fixes a lor of uncritical File Explorer errors, it has introduced these new bugs.

We will be falling back to the previous version of this piece of code. Please hang on for 24 - 48 hours.

Ok... so I chose not to sleep tonight, did what had to be done, recompiled and re-uploaded everything. I hope this version works, at least it does on mine x64 test machine. Thank you for your reports.

Offtopic: I do wonder, though, how mad one must be  to use 64-bit version of Windows as I have only heard terrible things about incompatibilities and nightmares about drivers, not to mention any games or entertainment stuff  And then again, why mess with 64-bits? Why didn't the industry go for 128 directly if this is such a good thing performance wise.

Hi Karlis, YOU MADE IT!!!

Now everything works fine. Thank you!!

About the use of 64-bit... you are right concerning to incompatibilities and nightmares with drivers, and believe me: is not faster than a 32-bit version in my case, but my hobby is digital photography (HDR) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging and video, so I need huge amounts of memory and a system supporting directX 10. Then 64-bit is necesary to run over 4Gb RAM

Regards from Tenerife, and hope to meet you when you come for holidays next time :)

Oh, memory, you are right about that! I am right on 4Gb and would like to extend but can't so I understand this bit.
