I am having a problem trying to retain the above default coding for my files.
I am using ver. 9.2.0.100 on an XP Sp3 machine with 1GB.
My default setting under Options - Preferences - Files - General is save files in PC format and default encoding as above, however, whenever I close the program and re-open it the encoding has changed to ANSI!
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Default Encoding - UTF-8 without BOM
Default encoding is an encoding for NEWLY created files, not for the existing ones. So if UTF-8 without BOM is set as the default encoding for new files, do you mean that every time when you create a new file, it has ANSI encoding.
Or did you mean to say that when you re-open your previously saved files, the encoding went back to ANSI. If so, please refer to this topic where I have explained about what does UTF-8 without BOM means: http://forums.blumentals.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3333
