I'm currently playing with the idea of a totally portable web IDE using the Uniform Server - USB version ( from Sourceforge ) and Webuilder 2008 (9.52) USB version as the editor...
I've pretty much cracked most of the problems I was having with settings by automatically tweaking the projects.ini and settings.dat files and the Uniform Server is working a treat with Firefox portable and the developer plugin set for external preview with no less than eight websites (vhost mode) running under Apache on the stick.
I can't get the Webuilder internal preview to work however...
The problem is proxy related, the Uniform Server Firefox implementation uses a PAC file to trick the system to looking for specific web sites on the local loopback address and hence removes the need to edit the hosts file on the development machine but I can't figure out how (or even if it's possible) to tweak the Webuilder settings so that it treats 127.0.0.1:80 as a proxy.
Bright ideas anyone?
