File Explorer Feature Requests

Post by xtom »

Some features I'd like in the File Explorer

* Display the active project name clearly so it's easy to see at a glance which project is being worked on
* Ability to select multiple files using ctrl and shift making it quicker to move mulitiple files into other folders
* Option to ignore specific files from publish/upload
* Duplicate file option when right click on a file to quickly create a renamed copy of the file

Please please, if we could have the Active Project Name clearly displayed that would be a huge benefit. I'm surprised this hasn't been requested more to tell you the truth. Dare I say it is close to essential to have. More than once I've hit the upload in the File Explorer and not realized it was not the project I wanted to upload! Clearly this could lead to major error or major issues.

I'm a little disappointed the upgrade for WeBuilder 2011 I just purchased didn't include this.

Thanks for considering this...maybe an update to WeBuilder 2011 could include this?

I have to disagree somewhat. Yes it is in the bottom corner, but that is not exactly obvious when you looking at your files and folders above that. I'm sure a UI experience would agree.

Also the first item in the file explorer is not always obvious as it is simple your root folder name, and that might very well be something not very descriptive. For example: I have a project where my root folder is a WordPress theme, which of is not the same at project name I'm working on.

My two bits, so I still vote for this change. Thanks for your thoughts though!

No disrespect, but what is the advantage? Change the name from bottom to up? You then are proposing to have one, actually 2, lines less in the project pane instead of using the status line.

No make much sense to me because the information you want is there. (but that is just mi opinion).

When I requested the active project name above I didn't realise it was displayed down the bottom. But after using the program for a year it still seems a strain (to me anyway) to look in the status bar for the active project name, I think it would be an improvement if it was displayed over the file explorer too, it's where I expected it to be at first, which is why I thought it wasn't displayed at all, it seems kinda hidden and unrelated to the file explorer down in the status bar.
