Firefox

Post by mapleleaf »

My gut feeling is that shortly FF 4.0 RC1 will be released based on a couple of things:

1. release a new build 4.0ß13pre(20110306) which was late generally they are always on time

2. work has already started on FF5 which will also have a 64-bit version << good news for win7 -64bit users

3. i'd bet FF 4 RC1 will appear in April

Anyone wanting to see a 3D cube with each face playing video, here is a direct link

http://www.mirana.net/mediaXX.html

this only works in FF 3.6.15, html5 transformation isn't really supported at the moment with Opera, Safari, Google Chrome and Maxthon. I truly wish that they get off on their butts and get working on the CSS3 standard.

I do hope that with the release of WB 2011 that they will open a new section in this forum relating to html5 and CSS3 by virtue that the release will support html5.

Btw, the latest draft html5 specification release is March 5, 2011.

That is interesting.

It is not the RC1 build but a candidate test build1 that is only in nightly folder that they are linking to as if it was a final RC1 build meant for public.

Btw, I've just d/l 4.0pre13(20110309) from the nightlies

Thank you, not sure when you looked at it but I did make some html5 improvements to the page.

That was in total about four days work to get it going right.

It is unfortunate that it works only with FF 3.6..14/15 and not the others but I am hoping that will come. Longtailvideo did make a mention of the 'cube' on their twitter and facebook sites.

Also I truly hope that the various browsers get off their 'asses' and start for the support of CSS3

I'll review the page again later.

This just came into my rss:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/RC/

Like it?

For those waiting until a final release or more stable one, I recommend the portable:

http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/f ... table/test

BTW. When a new version is out, I download and use the previous as a portable. They have the 3.6.xx as well.

For some reason the cube doesnt work with this version either only with 3.6.14/15, well back to the drawing board, i guess

Yes, I am afraid to.

I just found that after a while (screensaver in action) some tabs are converted to ghost tabs, they appear but you cannot x click on them nor bring to front.

I'll check this tomorrow and report it.

Hola

IMHO, Firefox would be crazy to release as it stands now, but FF4.0 it appears is under pressure from both the Trident and Webkit engines. Mozilla developers are working feverishly working on bugs. So get your report in asap.

Have you ever heard of the Maxthon browser? This browser enjoys a user base in excess of 1 billion users in Asia manly in China and isnt one not to consider as it is fairly good. This browser enjoys the support of both Microsoft and Google hence, the browser is a bi-rendering for both the Trident and Webkit engines. I have it has one of the browser when I test my web pages.

What I feel is going to happen in the future that is related to web browsers is the multi-rendering ability of/by browsers.

Yes I heard of it (also) in portableapps. Maybe I have to look a t it. I have FF and IE installed and Opera,, Chrome and Palemoon (a FF tuned for speed) as portables. This way even they are a bit slower than the installed version, doesn't mess with my registry.

Que tengan un buen dĆa todos.
