Reset settings when upgrading

Post by RubenS »

You have not described the procedure for updating the program in terms of storing user preferences.

When upgrading all settings get off!

Recommend or warn the user about it in the setup dialog, update or save-restore of setting up automatically when updating the software.

If you're updating (between minor versions), all settings including layouts are kept.
If you're upgrading (between major versions), all settings except the layouts are kept.

You could lose all your settings if you:
- uninstall and select "Remove all settings" during uninstall procedure,
- use portable versions.

Hi there, WeBulider 2015 Version 13.0 and the new 13.1 have the same problem.

Installation under Windows 8.1 (64Bit) are only correct if the windows user account-type is admin. If you use a "normal" user account Update loose all settings.
If you switch the account to admin and reinstall the update all settings are back. After installation and starting webuilder you can switch back to normal user type and it runs...

If you install it first time with "normal" User Account setup doesn't run clear...

It seems the installer neeed Admin-Richts (right click, run as admin are not enough).

My "normal" Account Type is a Windows-Live Account

Sorry for the bad english.

Is it possible that you installed from one account and upgraded from a different account?

Hi Aivars,
i think no. My MS-Account is a normal user. Insalling WeBuilder 2015 doesn't run and i have only one Amdin Account.
First time i installed it with right click and run as amdin, settings will not be there.

Only change temp. my Account to an admin account, run webuilder and switch back to normal user bring me my settings back...
