Extra quotation gets added using auto qoutation

Post by Rixters »

I hope someone has a simple solution to my problem. I have auto fill quotations on in the software. So when I add one quotation mark the other gets added automatically. This is default behaviour on installation. The problem is that when I add a quotation the second one gets added but also one in between. I end up with three quotation in stead of 2, like it should. This happens on single and double quotations.

Example in PHP: function(""); becomes function(""");

Is there a simple setting to fix this?

Could it be that " (or ') is the silent key in your keyboard layout for special characters? You can either turn off double quote autocomplete (menu Options -> Preferences -> Text Editor -> Auto Complete) or use keyboard layout that doesn't use it as the silent key (e.g. US English).
