Just today, a server that I was accessing normally suddenly failed to allow me to SFTP in. The only thing I did differently was restart my PC.
Failed with Error Code: 10058
However Filezilla still works, only WeBuilder does not work.
Version #: 12.3.0.152. I also tested with a Trial Version of the latest software and it does the same. I had my friend in another country test as well, and he gets the same using latest Trial Version.
There appears to be some handshake or authentication protocol issue between my server WPEngine and the IDE. I've asked WPEnging if anything changed and they said nothing had changed.
I also tested on a Rackspace & Dreamhost and they have failed as well. Only 1 server host (JaguarPC) works as of now.

I talked to a new rep from WPENGINE, and they said this:
" We recently updated our SFTP Cypher Suite, so it's a more modern set of cyphers. Your software developer needs to Update their SFTP cyphers to a more modern version."
When do you plan to update Webuilder to this more modern version?

The killer app of your software is that it has a very useful SFTP built into the software. Without it I have no reason to use it anymore.
Please respond and address this quickly. Your software is out of date with modern protocol, so it needs to be updated.

it's hard to tell if we can fix this without knowing the specific problem, because error code 10058 is a pretty generic SFTP error when server denies the access. Is it possible that you could PM me your SFTP account info for testing? As far as I can see, wpengine does not offer free or trial plans that I could use for this

The issue was noted by WPEngine above.
They updated to more modern cyphers. If you have any quesitons for WPE, ask me and I will open up a ticket with them, and ask your question there.
I'd like to help in any way I can, as my productivity has taken a huge hit since FTP stopped working.

Hi! We might have fixed this and ready for the next update but I don't have WPEngine account. If you could give me access (I promise I will only try to log in and change a folder for testing and not upload/download any files, after that you can change the password) I could test it.

The most that I could do was - I verified that SFTP library is attempting to use AES256-CTR so there might be a different issue with this SFTP server. Unfortunately without test account there is no way for us to figure out anything. Sorry.

That would be great. Hopefully it can be fixed, WPEngine support didn't know to tell me exactly what they updated...
