Windows Start Menu/Task Bar pops to foreground on alert

Post by whois »

I have been able to reproduce this on Windows 2000 and XP on multiple machines:

* Simple Flash Screensaver
* On resume, Require Password is OFF
* While screensaver is running, if ANY instant messenger client or Outlook recieves multiple messages/alerts, the Windows Taskbar pops on top of the the screensaver.

This looks very unprofessional and our client is complaining.

Anyone see this? Any workarounds?

Here is the answer...

This appears to be general Windows issue, because the software programs displaying alerts override the screensaver and try to put their alerts on very top of the screen.

We will be searching for a solution, however you should note that (to some degree) this happens with all screensavers.
