ASCII table

Post by bugMan »

Hi everyone and body...

Would it be possible to have in weBuilder a tool that would show up in the Inspector coloum or at any other place an
ASCII table with the codes and symbols ex : Ć© = é ĆŖ = ê Ā© = © or ª
Ī© = Ω or Ω etc, etc, etc.
Very useful when one writes European based language web pages and wants to have them readable by any one
on the planet, not having these horrible @#? caracters that are sometimes displayed, also due to a mistake in
declaration type :( ...

Thanks, regards.

Current "HTML>Character>Special Character..." is limited. Something like this would be useful and will certainly add power:

Make that +2 . . . especially if it also allows users to add to the table.

On a more general note, one of the things I very much miss (WB 10.1 under Windows XP/SP2) is the ability to add items to already existing elements/components. For example, I suspect many of us would appreciate the ability to add characters to the Special Character grid which are not currently included. By way of example -- “ and ” -- which are not in the current grid.

Pursuing that thought just a bit further. How about giving users the ability to create and add their own snippets AS BUTTONS ON A TOOLBAR. We can currently create our own toolbars. Why not give us the ability to add our own button-snippets instead of using the Library? Buttons on a toolbar take up much less space then does opening a vertical Library window which takes up a lot of real estate.

Using an example from another thread, there is no DIV button. But if users had the ability to create their own buttons and put them on a toolbar (including the ability to create their own icons to go along with those snippets) it would very much add to WeBuilder's versatility.

Also, the more the user has options to turn things on and off to his choosing (customize), the more desirable, and hence more marketable, WeBuilder becomes. For example, ctrl-RightArrow moves the cursor from the current position to the end of each word. Yet if I use ctrl-RightArrow here in this editor, I move to the beginning of each word. How about giving the user the option to move to the beginning of each word (including "<" as a beginning position?

Ok, I'll be quiet now :-)

I've added Window's Character Map to the Tools menu under External Programs, and then added the External Programs selector to the context menu, but something that allows inserting numeric equivalents could have its uses.
